OUR CANCER JOURNEYS-UPDATE

MY CANCER STORY IS TOLD ON THIS PAGE OF MY BLOG:

I Am A Survivor of Cancer

My Prostate cancer came back to visit me in September 2020. I had to get 40 treatments of Radiation to fix the problem. I have had some side effects from the Radiation, but overall I am doing ok.

Shortly after I got through my treatments, my wife, Susan, was diagnosed with a rare bone marrow cancer-Myelofibrosis/Myelodysplastic Syndrome with more overlapping blood cancers.   Her cancer journey started October 2020.

September 19, 2021.  It's now been 9 months since her diagnosis. I had to be her caregiver and she went through some testing and was referred to an MPN specialist in Houston, at MD Anderson Hospital.  Our Home away from home started June 22. We are required to stay close to the Hospital up to 100 days after transplant.

Several months of appointments and testing,  Doctors determined that she would be a good candidate for a Stem Cell Transplant/Bone Marrow Transplant.  It's the Cure. It's risky but it also has some very good success rates.  We had to stay in Houston 2 weeks before being admitted. Stem Cell Transplant was done on July 20, 2021.  If you want to read more about her journey, you can click on her blog link:
